Hurricane, tropical storms and tornadoes, are all high wind events that in turn cause high air pressures. Our product addresses the high air pressure element that causes all of the tornado and most of the hurricane damage.
High air pressure blows down trees, pushes against water to cause a storm surge and flooding, it also breaks garage doors, and carries debris that crashes into walls and windows. Air pressure causes homes to lose their roofs, and causes buildings to explode resulting in major repairs, lost property, and lost lives. High wind is very dangerous.
If the high wind pressure goes through or around the protective element, that opening is no longer protected, and damage will occur.
Take special notice of the “ACT OF GOD” warranty clause. That clause is placed there to specifically REMOVE (VOID) all of the manufacturer’s wind damage liability during any type of wind event such as a HURRICANE, a tornadeo or even a summer’s breeze.
Guarantee of Quality: A warranty is suppose to be a promise, from the manufacturer to you, that the product will perform as described and is of a certain quality.
Customer Trust and Confidence: Warranties are used to build customer trust and confidence in the product and the manufacturer.
Identify Specific Product Limits, Usage, How Product Defects / Failures are Handled, and WHO PAYS To Restore Failures: Warranties are for your protection, but they also offer protection for the manufacturer by limiting their obligation against his product defects, performance issues, and unexpected failures. Hurricane manufacturers always include a clause that specifies how the warranty can be voided. Within that warranty, there is a 3-word clause, that is specifically placed there to unconditionally void the hurricane warranty. That “Act of God” clause refers to ANYTHING generated by nature, such as Lightning, earthquakes, hail, sand storm, and WIND.
Note on Legal Obligations: Manufacturer warranty law (governed by the UCC), the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, and the FTC rules, covers retailers’ express or implied guarantees of a product’s quality and/or reliability. Once a merchant offers a written warranty, they are required to follow those provisions.
The manufacturer KNOWS EVERYTHING about the tested limits of their hurricane product, and they use that knowledge plus any associated projected company costs and profit expectations when they write their warranties so that they make the most amount of profit They will tell you their product’s limits, and what you can expect from the installed product. They will seldom directly tell you about their limits in writing, but they always tell you their limitations by what they leave out. If you know how to read a warranty, you can save thousands of dollars later by making the right choice before you buy.
Keep in mind that you are buying a hurricane protection product. A hurricane is mostly WIND. So, a hurricane protection product should have been designed to protect you from high winds, high air pressures, and flying debris.
In our view, if the hurricane screen fails in those tasks, we would consider that to be a manufacturer design defect and believe the manufacturer should replace the wind-damaged screen panel for free.
Do you agree?
Most manufacturers won’t claim that their screens will last 10 years if they only expect them to last a maximum 5 years. So, they just told you how long they believe their screens will last.
Because of the “Act of God” clause, they will NOT provide a FREE fabric replacement for any type of wind damage if they already know that their screens tend to blow out of their tracks, seams split, or some other type of wind damage will occur. So, they just told you that they believe their screens will fail due to winds.
By using the “Act of God” clause, they will NOT replace their damaged screens, for FREE, if they were damaged by sunlight (sun’s UV rays). So, they just told you that they believe their screens will be damaged by sunlight at some point before the end of their warranty.
Q: What is the value of a hurricane screen warranty that includes WIND in their Act of God warranty clause when it comes to damage by either WIND or UV rays?
A: It’s a 100% guarantee of MAJOR FUTURE REPLACEMENT COSTS.
You have a warranty for a hurricane protection screen that, if it fails due to any “Act of God”, you are totally responsible for the cost of any repairs or replacements. Additionally, they treat the fabric failure as a built-in annuity, meaning just like buying a Gilette safety razer. Once you buy it, you have to continue buying the replacement razor blades (in this case fabric screens) or you lose your initial investment in the entire system. However, it’s not a 50-cent razor blade, but several-thousand-dollar fabric panels.
Note: the fabric screens are uniquely made for each specific system so you can’t interchange fabric panels.
