The owners of this home were alerted that there was a tornado in the area. They went out onto their patio, pushed their remote control down button, and lowered their Atlas Armor hurricane screens as a precaution. Shortly after the screens were lowered and while they were still standing behind the screens, the tornado struck their home. They stood just a few feet behind their Atlas Armor hurricane screen and watched as their pool cage was completely dismembered and turned into a “kitchen-like food processor”. It only took a few minutes, but during those minutes, the sharp cage structural aluminum members repeatedly struck the screen as they twisted in circles. A few minutes later, the storm moved on, leaving what you see in these photos. Our screens held tight; the owners remained untouched, and the screens remained unblemished and ready for the next storm.
Side note: you can see that the roof was partially removed and had to be covered by blue tarps. The screen enclosure members were badly twisted and had to be completely removed. The screens worked as they did before the storm.
