Removeable Fabric Hurricane Panels

Removable fabric panels are exactly what they sound like: Hurricane Fabric Panels that can be installed and removed as required. These are also known as hurricane window panels.
During the installation, side tracks are anchored to your home around an opening such as a doorway or window. The openings are relatively small compared to those secured by using roll-down screens. These panels offer the same type of protection and carry the same warranty as the Atlas Armor Hurricane Screens (roll-down version).
These screen panels provide insect control like an insect screen, solar radiant heat control like a solar screen, privacy unlike any other type of screen, protection against ordinary weather such as wind and rain, and hurricane protection.
The removeable fabric panels can be installed in a variety of ways.
The reason for removable panels is for areas on your home that you want to be able to quickly protect before a hurricane but at other times, you don’t want the protection in place.
We have designed our removable panels in such a way as to allow the panels be quickly installed and removed without using any tools and still fully protect your opening. Our design eliminates the need to search for a fastener. The screen panels are completely self-contained because the required fasteners are securely attached to the panel.
The screens are configured as follows:
- With 2 parallel tracks, one on each side of the opening. The fabric will be installed and held by the two tracks
- Removable screen panels, or hurricane window panels, are always rectangular.
- In all cases, the tracks are mounted on the walls around the opening to be protected. It's always a good idea to mount the sidetracks on the long side. By doing that, the fabric has the shortest distance between the tracks which reduces the screen deflection.
- The removable screen tracks can be mounted either vertically or horizontally. If you have a lot of space on at least one end of the track you can load (slide) the fabric panel in the track from that end of the track. If you have a trapped location (i.e. floor to ceiling) you can still use our removable panels utilizing an open space that will be cut into the middle of the sidetracks.
- Once the fabric panel is within the tracks, the panel will be locked in place by means of a stainless-steel pin tethered to the screen. The locking pin will be inserted into the side track at the location indicated by the small colored screen patch. The pin always stays with the fabric panel after you remove the panel from the sidetracks.
- The removable panels can optionally be made with or without hand straps that run the full length of the screen panel. The straps are used to assist the sliding of the panel into place because in some cases you will only be able to reach one side of the screen, and you will not be able to hold onto the screen.
- One last feature about the vertical screens: Once the vertical sidetracks are installed on any floor. The screen can be installed from inside of the home through an open window. You just have to be able to reach both side tracks through the window. The window must also not open out. No ladders are required, your feet never have to leave the floor or ground.
